About the Technology behind
Terrasil
Technology
The unique and patented silver oxide technology
underlying Terrasil is its patented Silver Oxide. The
Electron-Active™ Silver Oxide Molecules are structured as semi-conducting crystal
devices with high electrical potential. The Silver Oxide in
Terrasil
is a patented silver and oxygen (silver oxide) compound
comprised of four silver atoms and four oxygen atoms in a single
molecular structure.
The Silver Oxide Molecules have a selective
attraction to exposed nitrogen groups on the membrane proteins
of bacteria, viruses and fungi. Upon contact, the Silver Oxide
Molecule's go through
an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction, which
studies suggest
may be instrumental in speeding wound healing.
Below is an artist's rendering of the
Electron-Active™ Silver Oxide Molecules (small blue particles) following their natural
attraction to the membrane of a pathogen (bacteria, virus, etc.). Notice the electrical
action at the point of contact.
Upon full contact (below) with the Silver
Oxide Molecules, the pathogen is crippled as it is
simultaneously exposed to electrical energy, oxygen and the
resulting redox reaction (oxidation-reduction).
The final stage (below) of a nearly
instantaneous process is death of the pathogen.
Safety
Silver oxide is approved
as a safe cosmetic ingredient internationally; listed as a
'cosmetic biocide' in the International Dictionary of Cosmetic
Ingredients.
In addition, Aidance's Electron-Active™
Silver Oxide was extensively reviewed and
approved
by the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency) for use in
another germ-killing product (disinfectant). The EPA had to consider
Electron-Active™ Molecules ocular (eye)
toxicity, dermal (skin) toxicity and oral (swallowing) toxicity.
The EPA gave the Silver Oxide its highest safety
rating and qualified it as the only antimicrobial (germ
killing compound) in the EPA's 1996 Food Quality Protection Act
(listed as Sildate), meaning that it's ok if small amounts of the
Silver Oxide
comes in contact with the food we eat. That's safe!
